Morning river tram route is cancelled in Kiev. Now, city river ships will run only in the evenings. The cancellation reason is very simple: the river tram was nearly empty in the mornings , so there was no sense to keep in going. Instead, another evening route has been open. The ship will run from the berth at Obolon embankment (next to Prirechnaya Street) to Poshtova Ploscha and back.
On July 2009 the ethnological centre Cossack village Mamayeva Sloboda was open in Kyiv, Ukraine. It’s address is 2, Mykhaylo Dontsya Street, not too far from the metro stop Shulyavs’ka (red line). Mamayeva Sloboda is a bright embodiment of glorious Cossack tradition, which can be spotted in architecture and also in the landscape.
The biggest in Europe Flower Clock, which was created on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv just before the Independence Day, 24th August, has already lost its hands…. It had a really short life: only two days!

Because of the bad condition if their equipment and lack of money for the maintenance, famouse Kiev byuvets (or in english – water wells) are being closed. “Kyivvodokanal” has already closed 81 byuvets in Solomyansky, Podilsky, partially Shevchenkivsky and Obolonsky districts! This process was started in July 2009.
There are about 224 byuvet complexes in Kyiv.
British hotel group InterContinental opened 5-star hotel InterContinental in Kiev on 2A, Velyka Zhytomyrska Street on the 27th of August, 2009. It is is conveniently located in the very center of Kiev, with walking distance from famous Khreshchatik Street, St.Michael’s and Saint Sophia Cathedrals and just next to the Hyatt Regency Kyiv. Leon Larkin, the general manager of the Intercontinental hotel informed the journalists about the Hotel opening.
