Electric train “Troeschina” – “Kyiv-Petrivka” has been launched in Kyiv

Kyiv Municipal Administration and the Southwestern Railroad have launched operation of electric ( commuter ) trains between train stations “Troeschina” (Horodnia) and “Kyiv-Petrivka” in Kyiv on the 2nd September, 2009. This will enable residents of the Troeschyna district to travel to the Petrovka subway station faster and more comfortably.
Trains will operate during rush-hours from 06:00 to 09:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00. There will be two electric trains consisting of six carriages each on the route. The trip between “Troeschina” and “Kyiv-Petrivka” stations will take approx. 7 minutes. The interval provided between trains is approx. 15 minutes. Each of the electric trains is capable of transporting more than 1,000 people and each of the trains’ carriages has three exits.

The Southwestern Railroad provided its railway infrastructure and two electric trains, while Kyiv municipal administration gets their own rolling-stock. The Southwestern Railroad has also changed the routs of freight trains during electric train services.
The Head of Southwestern Railroad Oleksii Kryvopyshin said that the Southwestern Railroad invested about 40 million UAH in implementation of this project. He emphasized that Kyiv Municipal Administration shall pay compensation expenses for the train services.

At the time of launching operation of electric trains, Kyivpastrans opened three new bus routes №59, 60, 61 between Saburova Street and Troeschina/Horodnia railway station.
Bus traffic interval will be 2-3 minutes.
One way train ticket will cost 1,7 UAH and a single one way ticket for trips by these busses and the electric trains will cost 2 UAH.

Kyiv’s Mayor Leonid Chernovetskyi, the Southwestern Railroad’s head Oleksii Kryvopyshin, the Kyiv municipal administration’s first deputy head Denys Bass and others attended the launching ceremony.
“Today we give all residents of Raduzhny and Troeschina districts an opportunity to get to the Right Bank. In future we plan to gradually add new routes to the municipal electric train network and link Darnytsia, Borschahivka, Karavayevy Dachi, and Vydubychi together,” Chernovetskyi said.
