Ethnological centre Cossack village Mamayeva Sloboda was open in Kyiv, Ukraine on July 2009. It’s located at 2, Mykhaylo Dontsya Street, not too far from the metro stop Shulyavs’ka (red line). Mamayeva Sloboda is a bright embodiment of glorious Cossack tradition, which can be spotted in architecture and also in the landscape. A characteristic feature of the Cossack village became revival of the forgotten Ukrainian traditions. A separate cultural program will be prepared in there for each national and religious holiday.
For example, on the 23d of August, the Day of the Ukrainian Flag was celebrated in Mamayeva Sloboda.
Cossack village works every day except Monday.
Tuesday – Friday from 11:00 till 19:00 (ticket office works till 18:00)
Saturday from 11:00 till 20:00 (if there are some cultural events it will stay open till 22:00)
Sunday from 8:00 till 20:00 (if there are some cultural events it will stay open till 22:00)

Cost of the tickets:
Adults – 20 UAH
Adults in Vyshyvanka (Ukrainian shirt) – 10 UAH
Students, pensioners and invalids of the first group – 10 UAH (free in Vyshyvanka).
Children under 6 y.o. – free
For church visitors (without the rights to enter other areas) – free.

Excursions:

Excusrion bureau (department of scientific and cultural organization of the Ethnic Center “Cossack Mamay” works from 11:00 till 18:00 every day except Monday.

Payment: cash or bank transfer.
Individual visitors could see the sights of the Cossack village on their own (the route and sights are shown in the ticket additions). Also, if you wish you could join groups for the organized excursion (up to 20 people), which are constantly formed by the central entrance.
Lectures-excursions are offered in Ukrainian and English.
Cost of the excursion in Ukrainian (up to 20 people) is 300 UAH
Cost of the excursion in English (up to 20 people) is 500 UAH
Excursion duration is 1,5 h. The territory of the Ethnological center “Cossack Mamay” is quite big (9,2 hectares). There are about 98 architectural and other buildings in Mamayeva Sloboda.
The topic of the excursion is «Ukraine – the Cossack Land» (history of Ukraine of 17th -18th centuries). During this excursion the visitors have an opportunity to see the unique architectural ensemble and natural environment of this open-air museum – skansen, visit an old Cossack St. Mary’s (Pokrova) Church, country estates of ktitor, blacksmith, potter, cossack chairman, cossack-dzhur, fortune-teller woman and shynok of Jew the shop-keeper. For all those, who is fond of old folk mechanical arts the master-classes of pottery and blacksmithery are offered.

Another interesting and worth seeing open-air museum in Kyiv region is a National Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life Pirohovo.
