Flower Clock on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv lost its hands

Flower Clock on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, Ukraine
“Kyivzelenstroi” blames Kievans and the guests of the Ukrainian capital. They say, the problem is not in the clock mechanism, but in Ukrainian mentality. People immediately wanted to take pictures on the clock hands, to walk on flowers, etc. No wonder the clock broke.
So, its mechanism was dismantled and taken for the repair. They say it’ll take not less than a month, because one of the gear wheel, which was produced in Cherkassy got broken. Seems, somebody not just walked on the hands, but rode on them! Specialists are not sure yet, how much it will cost to repair the clock.
Also, Kyivzelenstroi will have to restore the part of the trampled lawn and plant new flowers. That will take several thousand hryvnia.
That is why now you can see a policeman watching the biggest in Europe Flower Clock.

Good news! The Flower Clock will start ticking again in about a week. Its mechanism has already been repaired and now it just has to be set and adjusted. A small fence will be mounted around the clock to prevent the hooligans’ activity.
