Flower clock will appear on Maidan Nezalezhnosti this spring again

Flower Clock on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, Ukraine
The biggest Ukrainian Flower Clock will start ticking again approximately in April, 2010 near the Independence Square, on Instytutska Sreet. A competition for the best design of the clock has already begun. For example, one of the ideas is to put in the center of the dial the logo of Euro 2012 (a soccer ball with two flowers).
This year, according to the Deputy Mayor of Kyiv, the Flower Clock will be changed twice. Kalanchoe will prevail in spring flower composition of the 50 thousand plants, and in summer and autumn there will be long-blooming chrysanthemums. In order it wouldn’t happen like last year, when the floral clock has stopped working the next day because of all those, who wanted to take pictures in the middle of the Clock and ruined it. This time the flower composition will be protected. The authorities are going to install a webcam, which, in case of any improper activity, will transmit an alarm signal to the security console.
It will also be possible to take photos next to the Flower Clock. A small bridge over it will be built, so people could climb on it and take pictures straight in the center of the flower bed.
