Truck for prisoners in Ukraine

Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ukraine defined the winner of tender for producing a new truck to transport prisoners. Tender competition was announced in the framework of Ukrainian preparations for EURO-2012. Ukrainian militia (police) is afraid that European football fans, in case of detention, will not be satisfied with the Ukrainian cars for prisoners, which Ukrainian militia has inherited since Soviet Union times. Nowadays, Ukrainian car for prisoners is just a big iron cabin on GAZ truck chassis.
But now, MIA of Ukraine requirements are different: “european style” truck for prisoners should be comfortable for both the arrested person and the escort. This includes modern airconditioning and heating systems, completely new inner design: instead of a general cell, there should be individual places with soft seats.
Kherson Automobile Plant “AntoRous” won this tender. Sergiy Gorbunov, the head of the plant advertising department said, that this new car, precisely a bus to transport arrested hooligans, would be assembled on the basis of Nissan chassis, which the plant was producing under the lisence. Also, the new “prison bus” would have a Nissan engine. At the end of September, Kherson Automobile Plant is planning to show the ready-made european style car for prisoners.

Meanwhile, special services of Ukraine and Poland have signed an agreement concerning EURO-2012.
Ukrainian Security Service and Polish Internal Security Agency signed in Lviv, Ukraine agreement of collaboration in providing security of citizens in connection with preparations for hosting 2012 UEFA European Football Championship.

Valentin Nalyvaichenko, the head of Security Service of Ukraine and Krzysztof Bondaryk, the head of Polish Internal Security Agency have put their signatures on the document.
