In Kyiv several observation areas were equipped with telescopes

In Kyiv, several observation areas have been equipped with special units, which allow Kyiv residents and the guests of the Ukrainian capital to view the panorama of the city.
In particular, viewing areas near the Arch of Friendship and the monument to the victims of Holodomor (near Lavra) will allow tourists to enjoy the city panorama with the help of telescopes.
Kyiv City authorities are planning to equip two more observation platforms in the capital: on the Dnipro slope near the Great Patriotic War Museum and in the Maryinsky park.
According to the Kreshchatik newspaper five minutes of using the telescope will cost ten hryvnia. The device takes banknotes automatically. Such stationary telescope is a meter and a half in height and it is easy and convenient in use. It rotates by 320 degrees and moves 30 degrees up and down vertically. High-quality optics allows you to magnify an object 30 times.
“In 2008 we purchased 11 telescopes in Canada and it cost us 6700 thousands of US dollars. They were set in Crimea, but the use of them was seasonal. So, there was an idea to move some of them to Kyiv, where there are always something to see “, – said Maxim Zhdanov, the representative of project investor.
According to him, they are planning to purchase similar, high quality equipment at domestic manufacturers. Units will be anti-vandal and their optical part will be brought from Belarus. “It’s seven times cheaper and later on it will allow to reduce the cost of the services”, – said Zhdanov.
According to Kreshchatik newspaper it would be possible to use these optical devices not only during the day time but also at night. As it was previously reported, Kiev City Administration plans to merge eight city parks and equip them with observation areas.
