Kseniya Simonova’s amazing sand animation

Submitted by admin on August 29, 2009 – 2:48 pm3 Comments

She is the 2009 Winner of Ukraine’s Got Talent Show. Her story that portrayed life during Ukraine’s Great Patriotic War against the Germans in World War II makes people cry. But not only this, but all of her works are just stunning! Kseniya Simonova is just 24 year old artist from Yevpatoria (Evpatoria), Crimea, Ukraine and she first started to create these type of drawings not a long time ago (in 2008) and eventually it all progressed to what you see.
The text, written in Russian on this video says “You are Always Near”
The transition of the aging woman (who was waiting for the return of her loved ones back home after the war) into the Obelisk delivers a deep meaning. In Ukraine and Russia, the Obelisk is a sign, monument for the Unknown Soldier. The words of the music (about soldiers who never got back home and “they turned into white doves”) and the music itself is very moving.
In one of her interviews Kseniya said that she decided to take part in this contest in order to help a sick nine months old girl Nika, who was in coma since she was 3 months old because of meningitis. So, before the show Kseniya decided if she won (prize money was one million hryvnia), she would spend some of the money for charity.
Earlier, with other supporters she started a movement aimed at helping mothers with little children and against abortion.
After she’s been announced a winner of Ukraine’s Got Talent Show somebody asked the artist if she was going to leave Yevpatoria now and live somewhere else. “I want to live in Yevpatoria and hope I will be. I think my city is the best city for the creative work”, answered Ksenia.

The words written in Russian at the end of this video mean: “Don’t be late…”
