On the 25th October Ukraine is switching to winter time

On Sunday early morning 25th October, Ukraine is switching to winter time. At 4pm in the morning clocks have to be moved back one hour so we will “gain” an extra hour.
Change for winter time is realized according to the recommendation of the European Economic Commission UN, which extended the period of summer time from September until the last Sunday of October. Prior to 1996, winter time was introduced on the last Sunday of September.

First “summer” and “winter” time order was introduced in England in 1908 with the economic purposes and for a more rational usage of electricity during the day.

Nowadays, there are over 110 countries in the world, which have “summer” and “winter” time. At the same time, many countries have abandoned the time switch, such as China, Japan, India, Central Asian republics and Georgia.

Such time switch can reduce power load and improve ecological environment. It also provides a stable operation of a unified energy system of the country, the consistency of traffic and transport communications, television and radio.
