Tourist Police

Special Ukrainian police will be watching all those who smokes or drinks in public places and also litters around.
It is planned to establish a Tourist Police in the capital of Ukraine. Such police will control parking of the tourist buses, will check if tourist guides have the license for the tourist activity and also will look after the monuments and cultural heritage, etc.
It doesn’t seem to be too unique as it is a usual thing for countries and cities, which are considered to be centers of tourism.
“But it seems, that in Kyiv, such municipal services will fulfil some unusual functions,” they say at the Kyiv Committie of Culture and Tourism.
Recently, several decrees concerning prohibition of drinking and smoking in the streets and public places of the capital were issued by Kyiv City Administration (decrees № 246/246 from 18.09.08, № 626/1682 from 18.06.09, № 769/1825 from 09.07.09), but there were no city services, which could control the fulfilment of these decrees.
So, considering this fact, the tourist police will watch all those, who smokes, drinks and throws garbage around.
In fact, according to a project “About confirmation of the Conception about development of excursion activity in Kiev», except for the creation of Tourist Police, the activity of Methodical Center of Excursion Business will be resumed. At this center qualified tour guides, guides and translators will be trained and promoted.
