OUN UPA
As it became known, the participants of the march will give speeches with the requirements to award Stepan Bandera (Ukrainian nationalist who headed the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN)) the title of “Hero of Ukraine”, recognize the struggle of the OUN-UPA as a national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian nation and declare October, the 14th, the Day of UPA foundation, the state Ukrainian holiday.
At 18:00 a festive concert will begin on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), where such Ukrainian bands as “Komu Vnyz”, “Tartak”, “Vij”, “Ot Vinta”, “Tin’ Sontsya” and “Dyvni” will perform.
For information: Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists or OUN is a Ukrainian political movement originally created in 1929 in interwar Poland (western Ukraine). The OUN at one time accepted violence as an acceptable tool in the fight against foreign and domestic enemies of their cause as the revenge upon the occupation of Ukraine by Poland and Russia. The OUN’s stated immediate goal was to protect the Ukrainian population from repression and exploitation by Polish governing authorities in particular; its ultimate goal was an independent and unified Ukrainian state.
Some, call OUN “Ukrainian fascists”, like Mr. Jan Peczkis. He says: “Fascism…genocide…collaboration…The OUN, a group of Ukrainian fascists (whose eventual goal was a totalitarian, ethnically-pure pan-Ukrainian empire) sought a Ukrainian-Nazi puppet state. Never promised it, they blindly collaborated with the Nazis in the genocide of Jews, and then killed 180,000-300,000 Poles (limited only by Polish defenses) and thousands of independent-minded Ukrainians. ”

The feast is commemorated in Eastern Orthodoxy as a whole, but by no means as fervently as it is in Russia and Ukraine. Read more
