Ukrainian representative Alyosha rocks Eurovision with her song “Sweet People”

Alyosha (real name Olena Kucher, born on May 14th, 1986 in Zaporizhzhya), Ukraine’s participant in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, successfully presented her song Sweet People in the second Semi-Final and was chosen from a shortlist of 17 countries for Saturday’s final. She rocked the place with a powerful expressive covering a range of no less than four octaves vocal performance of her melancholic song, the key message of which is environmental protection.

Alyosha’s official video clip for the song Sweet People was shot in the town of Prypyat, which is the closest to Chornobyl. Prypyat was evacuated in the course of the Chornobyl disaster and has since then been abandoned due to high radiation level. The director of the clip mentioned, that everything in the video was real, nothing was shot in an artificial set.

Alyosha is the author of many hits for popular singers. She collaborated with such famous singers as Potap and Nastia Kamenskih, Ani Lorak, Irina Bilyk and Natalia Mogylevska.
In 2008, she signed a contract with the production center Catapult Music. Later on, Alyosha filmed a video clip to her song Sneg. This track was on rotation on all local radio stations. The singer’s first album, which has been recorded in English, was also released in the USA.

The Eurovision Grand Final will be broadcast live in all participating countries. You can also watch online on Eurovision.tv The 20 acts that qualified through the two Semi-Finals will join the five pre-qualified countries: Norway (the Host Country), France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
