Yanukovich cancels Independence Day parade

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has signed a decree amending the list of activities to mark the 20th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.
In particular, the President has decreed cancelling military parades in Kyiv, Kerch, Odesa, Sevastopol and the cities where operational command staffs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located.
The President also decreed cancelling the production of a commemorative distinction “20 Years of Independence of Ukraine.”
President Yanukovych has instructed the Government to allocate the saved budget money to improving social protection of the population.
